Oral hygiene during the orthodontic treatment
A prerequisite for orthodontic treatment is good oral hygiene. Regular professional teeth cleaning before and during orthodontic treatment at your general dentist is just as important and advisable as the daily use of dental floss, interdental brushes (for multibracket treatment) and mouthwash containing fluoride, to reduce the risk of caries.
We also offer the option of sealing the area around the bracket at the start of bracket treatment, where a varnish containing a high level of fluoride is applied around the brackets. This protects the tooth from caries, demineralisation, and decalcification for several months, particularly in the bracket region.
